AccessComply exists because every other accessibility tool on the Shopify App Store is an overlay widget — and overlays don't work.
The Problem
Over 5,100 ADA accessibility lawsuits were filed in 2025, with 69% targeting ecommerce websites. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) became enforceable in June 2025, requiring all ecommerce sites serving EU customers to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Shopify merchants face a real compliance gap. Themes ship with accessibility issues. Content changes introduce new violations. And the only tools available on the Shopify App Store are overlay widgets — JavaScript toolbars that sit on top of your code without fixing anything underneath.
Overlays have been rejected by the Department of Justice, targeted in lawsuits, and fined by the FTC. They don't satisfy ADA or EAA requirements because they don't modify the source code that screen readers and assistive technologies actually interact with.
Our Approach
AccessComply takes a fundamentally different approach. We scan your storefront with Playwright and axe-core — the same engine used by enterprise accessibility audit firms — then generate real source-code fixes that modify your theme's Liquid, HTML, and CSS files directly through the Shopify API.
Our fix pipeline uses a combination of deterministic agents (for predictable issues like color contrast and heading hierarchy) and AI-powered agents (for context-dependent issues like image alt text and ARIA labels). Every fix is backed up, verified by a post-fix re-scan, and can be rolled back with one click.
The result is genuine compliance at the code level — not a JavaScript band-aid that stops working when the script fails to load.
